Sorta related… there is no menu option in the editor to embed an image from a 3rd party site unless I am overlooking it. I see the URL and all kinds of stuff for styling text and even code related, but nothing to embed an image from sites like Imgur and Flickr (just to name two).

I posted about it already in the feedback area (I think it was).

There’s no need for a button, just paste the link and press enter and it’ll expand if it’s possible (Youtube, Dailymotion, Vimeo and about a billion others*)

Not with Flickr… that post I linked to had the URL pasted in the editor like this.

And Imgur also did not work when I tried it earlier.

Having the ability to insert an image by URL in the editor bar for many sites will be a necessity, especially for a site like Cloudy Nights which uses Invision script currently.

I know with Xenforo, I can create a custom BBcode to do it as media, but it’s easier clicking on the editor image insertion button and pasting the URL there.

This leads to a 404 for me, which is probably why it didn’t embed.

try it again.. it was a cut/paste from the imgur site for a large thumbnail.

EDIT: and imgur apparently is having issues right now.

OK… there is something else going on… and not sure what.

That link is the same one that I embedded in this test post and it worked fine.

And so did this one.

So I don’t know why they will embed in that Testing area and not here.

When I post the link in the browser bar supplied from Imgur it works.. the only time that the link is giving a 404 error is if I try it from the message or if I copy/paste it from this site into a browser tab.
