We’re now using Alpha 13. This alpha fixes a few minor issues with installation (minor because installation totally failed which means alpha 12 technically only had 1 bug). It also brings more stability to positioning things, a few UI updates and general bug fixes. The full list is here.

One could easily build an app to add buttons almost anywhere on the page that will toggle preferences. We don’t really need to add restful API endpoints for it.

Does Facebook, X or Snapchat allow you (the member) to change layouts? You as the site owner can set up your site exactly how you want it. Your members can change the layouts if you permit it. They just have to do it via their User Control Panel, or via switching themes.
  4. XenForo communityImplemented - Markup improvements for GoogleHi, my name is Ryan Levering and I currently handle structured data ingestion at Google (this guy). I've been doing some fairly spontaneous spot checks (not based on any specific problem) of some...
  5. I spoke with Ryan around that time too, and he gave us a few tips for better ingestion which we implemented at the time, but he was overall happy with our mark-up.

    Patch is on its way.

Alpha 12 is rolling in! Another week, another alpha! This brings a whole bunch of fixes bringing more stability and a tiny new addition to the theme editor settings to control the user generated content font size independently of the UI for those who like things a little bigger (no laughing at the back, thanks). As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts and if you spot any bugs, chuck ‘em in the bug tracker.

I hear you, but we’re not going to budge on this. We have a clear vision with 5 and part of that is a cleaner UI to reduce overwhelm for the 99% who just want to get in get the info, post their questions and thoughts and get on with their day. As mentioned above, if you want to create admin only themes with different layouts then that is still very much possible so it would work like this: In 4: You go to the top and click a button In 5: You go to the bottom and click the theme selector. You get to toggle between layouts with ease, your members aren’t left with settings overwhelm.

Only if it guarantees that I’ll be on the good list this year.

We wanted a cleaner UI, not more buttons and cogs on random pages. We really urge you to pick a layout that works for your community and stick with it. Most people are not toggling between views constantly. If you did want a quicker way to toggle, then you could create multiple themes with the required presets and then you can just change themes to toggle between modes.

Do you mean this icon? It’ll link to whatever stream you have set to default.

You’d need an API on your side to send the data, but it’s not something we’re considering at this time.

I had a simpler thought - a “bucket” of cover images you could upload and one could be picked at random.

We’ve updated to Alpha 11! This release was focused around editor fixes, some positioning JS stability, some minor features (per group option to see who is following things, view/edit permissions on club custom fields) and a lot of UI work to make headers consistent across the suite. Oh and a significant rewrite of the form toggles JS. If you want the full list, head over to our release notes. We are almost at the end of the alpha cycle, and it won’t be long until we move to beta and then the real fun starts!
  16. Yeah, sorry for the confusion. It’s fixed in our repository. We’ve not released the fix publicly yet.
  17. “and posted in” is a bug which we’ll get fixed before beta. It isn’t showing you just topics you posted in.

We have a pretty robust development team. Most of v5 has been created by: Esther: Lead backend Ehren: All things UI and frontend Matt F: All things JS/Node/React Me: Project management, some back end work and feature creation Stuart, Ryan, Daniel: v4 ports, infrastructure, SSO, testing, fixes, some feature work
  19. What makes it more efficient? Ultimately we did this in v3 and it wasn’t ideal because you cannot optimise for one engine. We use some very intensive queries that we have optimised especially for MySQL. To have a generic database adaptor would mean we couldn’t do that and performance would greatly suffer.

That’s because it’s an alpha and we have made the decision to make big sweeping changes, such as position JS, Page Editor, menu manager, etc which will destabilise in the short term, but have benefits in the long term. If we don’t do it now, we may not get a chance for 18-24 months.

You should be able to just paste in a URL and it auto-expand into an image. Like this: CleanShot 2024-08-22 at 16.43.50.mp4

We support some markdown, but not all of it.
  23. This may be fixed in Alpha 11, @Matt F ?

We’re on Alpha 10 now. How time flies when you’re having fun fixing bugs.
  25. Because it’s not 1999 still. 😀 Form elements as navigation would trigger so many performance and accessibility alarms we’d all get moderate hearing loss.
